Domestic bliss
This experimental series explores the sexualisation of childhood. The current era has been referred to as the ‘pornification of a generation’, where sexting, accessing violent pornography and posting provocative selfies on social media are normal activities for underage children. The internet has shortened the childhood period of innocence. Through screens, things that were once off limits to our kids can now be accessed from the convenience and safety of our homes. This still life photography series considers the overlap between childhood naivety and adult sexuality. Objects that reference childhood are placed next to things that suggest a sexual identity in the sphere of the domestic world. Everyday objects take on new meaning in this surreal environment.
